Choose screenshot sizes and safe zones that survive every store
Start at a valid output size, then protect important text and product UI from edge crops, gallery previews and format changes.

The rules define the canvas
Apple publishes exact accepted dimensions for every supported display class. Google uses a flexible range: each screenshot side must be 320–3840 pixels, and the longest side cannot exceed twice the shortest.
For Google recommendation eligibility, use at least 1080×1920 for portrait or 1920×1080 for landscape app screenshots. Always check the official pages before release.
Safe zones are a design system, not a store rule
Neither store publishes one universal text-safe rectangle for every listing surface. A practical safe zone is therefore an editorial guardrail: keep critical copy away from edges, reserve independent areas for title and subtitle, and prevent the device from covering either.
Preview the sequence at thumbnail size and inside a horizontally scrolling store gallery. If the message only works at full canvas size, it is too fragile.
Adapt rather than stretch
Switching from an iPhone portrait canvas to an iPad, Android landscape or foldable format changes the available composition. Store normalized coordinates, re-evaluate text width and line count, and reposition the device inside the new safe zone.
StoreHalo's preflight checks flag overflow and collisions before export, while its free safe-zone and size-checker tools can inspect existing files without uploading them.
